Sahita Pierre-Antoine

Sahita Pierre-Antoine loves everything about feminism and pop culture; she often jokes that the Spice Girls lit her spark for “girl power” at the tender age of 7. She holds two bachelor’s degrees in Political Science/International and Comparative Politics and in Spanish Languages and Literature from Stony Brook University in New York, and a Graduate Certificate in Project Monitoring and Evaluation from American University. Since she graduted from university, Sahita has worked on issues linked to gender and women’s rights within the NGO sector. Specifically, she has worked with grassroots groups, international agencies, and public institutions to advocate for and provide better resources to survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. Sahita is also a Board member of two organizations close to her heart: PROFAMIL, a Haitian organization focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and YWCA Haiti. Sahita is excited to be part of the She Speaks Blog and is looking forward to discussing themes around SRHR, GBV, pop culture, and how they affect women, young women, and girls at a regional and global level.
