Amanny Abu Awad is a young woman from Bethlehem, Palestine. She received a BA in English Language and Literature with a minor in Translation from Bethlehem University. She is currently the long-term Communications Associate at World YWCA. Amany is a member of the local YWCA of Bethlehem and a board member of the National YWCA of Palestine. As an advocate for human rights, women’s and young women’s rights and social justice, Amany is motivated to join the She Speaks Blog Team. She wants to share the struggles and the barriers young women face living in a patriarchal society. However, as a resident of an occupied country, Amany aims to also shed light on the struggles young people face as a result of occupation. She believes that writing is the best tool draw attention to and raise awareness about such issues, thus collaborate with other young women in finding solutions and bringing on change.
