
Balmi Chisim is a Bangladeshi indigenous and labour movement activist. She belongs to an indigenous matrilineal community, Garo. She received a master’s degree in law from the University of Dhaka. Currently, she is working for the Solidarity Center (AFL-CIO). Balmi is passionate about labour rights, women’s rights, gender-based violence and indigenous issues which inspired her to join the She Speaks Blog team. She also works closely with the local YWCA of Birisiri as a member and volunteer on issues related to violence against women.
